Fort Vuren

The rugged fort in the floodplains of the Waal

MerwedeWaalMaasGorinchemWoudrichem · BiesboschlinieSlot LoevesteinFort VurenZaltbommel

For centuries Fort Vuren held off intruders on the Waal with heavy guns. Today the provision rooms have made way for hospitality and the ramparts and casemates are the perfect playing field for an active programme. With the ferry to Loevestein within walking distance, the fort is the ideal starting point of a day.
